Registering an IMEI code

Based on the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. -778 dated September 17, 2019 "On the procedure for registration of mobile devices used, imported and manufactured for sale or personal use in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan", the procedure for implementing the system for registering IMEI codes of mobile devices of the GSM standard was developed.

What is an IMEI code?

IMEI - serial number of a mobile device consisting of 15 digits and allocated by GSMA, as well as identifying the GSM/UMTS/LTE mobile operator in the network. The IMEI code is available in all mobile devices that support SIM cards and is assigned to each SIM card slot separately. If a mobile device has two or more SIM card slots, then it has two or more IMEI codes. The presence of 2 or more IMEI codes on a mobile device means that this mobile device supports two or more SIM cards that can be served simultaneously by two or more telecom operators.

How do I find out my device's IMEI code?

To find out the IMEI code of a mobile device, you need to dial the request *#06# fr om your phone

Checking the status of the mobile device's IMEI code:

1. Using the USSD request *1170#

2. SMS message with IMEI code to the number 1170

3. On the official website of the UZIMEI Unified Database — www.uzimei.uz

What does it mean if a mobile device has two or more IMEI codes?

If a mobile device has two or more IMEI codes, it means that the device can be served by two or more mobile operators simultaneously using two or more SIM cards.

What does linking a subscriber number to the IMEI code of a mobile device mean??

During the automatic registration period (1.04.2019 — 31.10.2019), mobile devices with unidentified or cloned IMEI codes were registered in the UZIMEI system with the condition that the device's IMEI code/codes are linked to the subscriber number/numbers.

In this regard, subscribers who own mobile devices with unidentified or cloned IMEI codes will be able to carry out network events (calls and SMS sending) only through the subscriber number/numbers linked to the IMEI code/codes of the device.

In cases wh ere you need to change the subscriber number linked to the IMEI code/codes of a mobile device that was registered in the UZIMEI system during the automatic registration period, you will need to contact the System Operator or the System Registrar in person.

How long does it take to register the IMEI code of a mobile device?

Within 30 calendar days after the first network event is committed by a mobile device in the mobile operator’s network.

Where can I register my mobile device?

1.On the website of the system operator (www.uzimei.uz);

2.Via SMS and USSD request (*1170#);

3.Through the Unified Portal of Interactive Government Services of the Republic of Uzbekistan (EPIGU: www.my.gov.uz)

4.From the UZIMEI system operator

Which devices require IMEI code registration?
  • Tablets with SIM module (TABLET)

  • Smartphones with a SIM module (SMARTPНONE)

  • Mobile/feature phones with SIM module (MOBILE PHONE/FEATURE PHONE)

  • Portable devices with a SIM module, including PDA (personal digital assistant) (PORTABLE (INCLUDED PDA)

  • Portable devices (HANDHELD)

  • (push-button phones)

What do I need to provide to register an IMEI code?
  • a completed form indicating the brand, model, quantity and IMEI codes of mobile devices imported into the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan

  • original identity card of an individual

  • IMEI code of the registered mobile device, which is shown when sending a request *#06#

How can resident individuals register the IMEI code of a mobile device?

Registration of the IMEI code is carried out once, regardless of the change of SIM card. If an individual has exceeded the duty-free import of goods into the territory of the republic, then registration of the IMEI code/codes of the mobile device is carried out after providing the system operator with a customs receipt order.

This regulation was established by PP No. 3512, PKM No. 463, and the Procedure of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan

How can non-resident individuals register the IMEI code/codes of a mobile device?

Non-resident individuals, when purchasing a SIM card/cards from local mobile operators, must obtain a SIM card/cards with non-resident status.

The following can be provided as an identification document:

  • Biometric passport of a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan:

  • Identification ID card of a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan (hereinafter referred to as the ID card)

  • Foreign passport of a non-resident

  • Non-resident residence permit

In some cases, the following documents may be needed:

  • a copy of the customs import application (CIT), in case of registration of imported mobile devices in quantities exceeding the established customs

  • • original envelope with a postal stamp for verification when accepting mobile devices through courier, postal or international postal services.

How much does it cost to register the IMEI code of a mobile device?

For individuals (residents and non-residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan):

 
Subject to registration within 30 calendar days from the date of the first network event
20% of BRV*
In case of registration after 30 calendar days from the date of the first network event
25% BRV

When a non-resident of the Republic of Uzbekistan uses a foreign SIM card (roaming), registering an IMEI code is free.

You can pay for the service within 10 calendar days from the date of sending or filling out the application in person with the system operator

*BRV - basic calculated value. As of February 1, 2023, the BRV is 300,000 sum.

How to register the IMEI code/codes of mobile devices imported into the territory of the republic through international postal or courier items?

Mobile devices imported by individuals through international postal or courier services are registered only in person with the System Operator or System Registrar, subject to the presentation of an envelope with a postal identifier barcode and a calendar stamp.
